INTRODUCTION

New Town Concert Band: A Legacy of Musical Excellence

Since its inception in 1967, the New Town Concert Band has embarked on a musical journey characterized by exploration and growth. Under Maestro Erik Tan's baton, the band has delved into a diverse range of repertoire composed by renowned composers.

The band's dedication and talent have been duly acknowledged through numerous accomplishments. Participating in the esteemed SYF Arts Presentation (AP) 2023, the band attained the Certificate of Distinction, a testament to its outstanding performance and artistic merit.

The New Town Concert Band's exceptional performance also secured the championship award at the PAssionArts Festival 2023. Driven by a passion for musical excellence, the New Town Concert Band remains steadfast in its commitment to continuous development.

On 29 April, the New Town Concert Band showcased at the inaugural Asia Pacific Band Festival 2024, clinching the Gold award. This celebrated event took place at the School of The Arts (SOTA) Concert Hall. During their performance, the band captivated the audience with two remarkable pieces. They opened with "March: Stars of Tomorrow" by Kahchun Wong, a spirited and uplifting composition.

Following this, they delivered a stirring rendition of "Inspire!" by Satoshi Yagisawa, a piece known for its dynamic range and emotional depth. The New Town Concert Band's outstanding performance at the festival not only demonstrated their technical proficiency but also their ability to convey musical narratives, earning them well-deserved recognition.
