Scouting has been a part of New Town Secondary School since the school’s founding. Scouts aim to build and develop young people’s confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging them to explore on their beliefs, attitudes and creativity.
In Scouts, our boys are encouraged to work together and take the lead on various projects, from community based work to activities and games for their weekly meetings. Scouting offers an extensive range of outdoor activities and courses such as backwoodsman, camping, kayaking, hiking and first aid. Through rigorous trainings, our Scouts gain a head start by equipping themselves with the core skills needed for National Service as well as their lives. In addition, deserving Scouts will be given the opportunity to participate in overseas camps, where they will be extending their friendship across international boundaries and exposing to different cultures.
In line with New Town’s Learning for Life Programme, Scouting aims to develop leadership skills and nurture the young people to continue to uphold the virtues of a true 23 Eagles Scout: committed and responsible citizen in a spirit of faith, service and community. With undying passion and commitment, our Scouts have also clinched the prestigious Frank Cooper Sands Gold Award, which recognises sectional Scout units for unit of excellence.
